The GoFundMe campaign, which has already surpassed its goal, will also buy the studio a case of beer and some lunch.

While other studios could (and likely would) have cut their losses and moved on to something else following the rocky launch back in 2016, Hello Games put in the time and effort, with the Next update in 2018 and Beyond coming later this year, to add tons of new content and features to the game for free.

It’s great to see the team getting recognized by their fans for their hard work and dedication. It’s heartwarming to see extra money from the campaign going to help sick children.
