Kyle Orland for Ars Technica:

Microsoft is reportedly in the late stages of $10 billion acquisition talks with Discord, a gaming-focused community chat platform, according to unnamed “people familiar with the matter” who spoke to Bloomberg.

I’m not overly optimistic about the idea of this based on how Microsoft’s other acquisitions in the areas of social, gaming, and messaging have ended up, specifically Skype and Beam. I’d rather see the company go public than be integrated into Xbox or become part of the Epic Games Store (rumoured to be in similar discussions) and I doubt I’m the only one who feels that way.
